Thank You

As January comes to a close, we like to pause and think about what just happened.

The holidays come and go in a whirlwind, and when the dust settles and February rolls around it may seem like an eternity since the day holiday season began: Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving is our favorite holiday because it gives us an “attitude of gratitude.”  It starts the season off right, and by highlighting it now it brings us full-circle, right at the time we start to dig in for the long haul of a new year.

So without further ado, we’d like to thank you.  All of you.

Thank you to our clients for supporting us for 27 years and allowing us to work in and around some of the most beautiful landscaping on Oahu and spreading the word.  You can read about some of them here.

Thank you to our employees for making our workplace so enjoyable and always helping our clients and community with a smile.  You can read some of their stories here.

Thank you to our community for embracing and working with us and the numerous other landscapers around windward Oahu.  It is a pleasure to work with such great residents and businesses every day.  We are active in various business groups, and if you would like to learn about some of our colleagues you can do that here.

We are honored to work and live with you all.

And to wrap up all this goodness, we’ll give ourselves a little fist-bump by sharing the Thank You article that inspired this one.

It’s from Permazlitz Hawaii, who always encourages you to grow your own food.  They inspired us so much over the past year that we showed our gratitude with a tithe to their movement.  You can find out how to donate to them and read their entire Thanksgiving article below:

This Thanksgiving, we are thankful for you.

To all of you who have contributed your time, sweat, resources, recipes & love towards making our communities a little more edible – and a lot more resilient – thank you.

In particular, we’d like to thank Sam Wilhoite of Ohana Lawn Service, who primed the pump for more cash donations in 2012 (thank you Awesome Foundation!) with his unsolicited cash donation earlier this year.

Meanwhile, PermablitzHI continues to flourish (our mailing list surpassed 400 this month) and help people grow their own, restoring Hawaii’s food security one backyard at a time.  We started without relying on any money, and we’ll continue to do our work without relying on monetary currency.

Instead, we choose to trade in the currency of relationships, we believe in the power of community, and we will not stop – until people helping people to grow their own food is no longer buzzworthy.

“Though the problems of the world are increasingly complex, the solutions remain embarrasingly simple.”

Thank you, for being a part of Hawaii’s Edible Garden Revolution.
